got to really drive my car tonight
I haven't really driven my car in a long time, it gets driven but not by me that often. I've been in virgina for a while now and my father has been making sure my car isn't just sitting and he's been enjoying it but today I'm back with my baby and decided to take her out for the night for roughly a 70 mile drive on a mix of two lane and highway to a buddies house for a cigar podcast. I forgot just what a freaking beast these cars are! merging onto the interstate in second then into third and i had to really really fight myself to take my foot off the gas and shift into 5th and get back down to 70, and kept it there for the remainder of the drive with the cruise control set.
After i got off the interstate it opens into a roughly 1/4 mile stretch of road where there's no one in front of me so I complete my turn and I do the only natural thing a person can do in this situation, 1-2-3 gear pull. WHAT A BEAST! Now my car is stock, I can't even imagine what a big cube would feel like. the rest of the drive is uneventful as the roads around here suck. So I put the can in tour and just put along at the speed limit. On the way home I actually turned the key off for the first time....in umm years because the roads were soaking wet and I'm well afraid of the car. By the time I got back to the interstate the roads were dry so I decided to turn the key on and give in the beans and since it's much cooler now then it was earlier the car really got up and ran. The exit ramp is very long so I decided to have a little 7,000 rpm fun before slowing down for the light, I turned left and hit 7,000 again and then 4500ish in second before going into fourth for the remainder of the drive home. Long story short, I LOVE THIS CAR. Don't like the radio, but how often do you need that.

Kevin! Thanks for taking us along on your ride. (That was fun!) We were on the same wavelength last night! Took the saucy bitch with the fire in her eyes (er...motor) out to kill a few bugs last night too. I know what you mean about crappy roads tho...Nothing like a spirited ride in the Z to make a country blacktop feel like your driving on a lasagna noodle!

Re: got to really drive my car tonight
I think most cars do. But I don?t notice much of a difference on mine. My open air temp sensor has been relocated right inside my forced air duct and finolic plenum spacers keep the electronics under the plenum cooler. Im sure that stuff makes a huge difference in tricking the ecm from retarding the timing from heat soak.

Re: got to really drive my car tonight
Kevin I have yet to see one that doesn't have delamination on it. Some are worse than others.
