Well.... Since I have some time....
The dang ZR-1 did the no start on me with the VATS again. Fourth time in a month! And this time the interior lights will not go off. The first couple of times the system reset fairly quick (20 to 30 minutes) last time it was well over 2 hours. Since I have nothing to do but wait on this F'n car could anyone tell me why he interior lights will not go off? This is a first and I just pulled the fuse so the battery wouldn't drain on me.
Thanks, Daniel |

Yeap, common issue. No Start, could be a few things. Do a search for both of your issues. Pete

Re: Well.... Since I have some time....
To check the door switch, temporarily build up strike surface on the door jamb (black round plastic tab) with a quarter taped on. If this turns the light off (remember it's on time delay), it's the light switch.
I got lazy and crazy glued a shirt button on the switch (not the strike surface). 'Course you can buy a new switch too. |

Re: Well.... Since I have some time....
Well I left the car pushed Up next to the fuel station and walked home. I am beyond pissed, I had a friend FINALLY pick me up about a mile from the house but the other 7 or so miles just gave me time to get pissed off. I'll bypass the VATS I am not thinking starter since the car hadn't been running for any more than 15 minutes I doubt it had time to get heated. Anyone have the door switches? Now its time to hook up to the trailer and haul it back... Great way to end the day since I was taking a drive to get my mind off of all the work stuff! My kind of luck.... LOL

On my prototype the vats ignored the calibration disable so I just ran a wire to the starter and when a no start just touch it to the pos side of the battery, works every time. Tyler

Re: Well.... Since I have some time....
Daniel:
I feel your pain, having walked in those exact same shoes. It's been a year or three ago, but I remember it quite vividly. It was a typical Northern California hot sunny day (100+). I had taken the roof off and took a spirited drive around nowhere in particular and afterward stopped by the local Blockbuster Video store to see if there was anything good in. I go to fire it up and leave, and....................... Nothing. Luckily for me it was only about a mile or so home, but it was a long hot pissed off walk home to get the roof (I had left it in the garage) and arrange for a flatbed tow. I hopped in my trusty old Toyota pickup and drove back down to the parking lot to put the roof on and just for giggles gave the key a try. Yup, you guessed it, vvvvvrooooommmmmm!!! Started right up. Called and cancelled the tow, drove it home and had wifey take me back down to the parking lot to collect my pickup. That began the saga of "The Dreaded No Start" and the end result was my patented DNS remedy http://www.zr1.net/forum/showpost.ph...0&postcount=13 More info here; http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread....=dreaded+start TomC 'Crabs

Re: Well.... Since I have some time....
Well just for shiggles I drove to the car before I head across town to get the trailer and no start. The interior lights just blink when the door is shut but never go off so I left the fuse out. I'm sure once I go get the trailer it will start right up... Good thing I have to be at work early!!!
Thanks for the links guys!!! I'll be starting ASAP Daniel |

Re: Well.... Since I have some time....
Such a wonderful night let me tell you? I drive across town to pick up my trailer and the guy?s house that I had it stored at has taken his Supra to have it retuned. I had told him use it whenever you like but why this mess happens all at once is beyond me. I drive back to the house and go by the ZR-1 one more time and try to get it cranked (around 2am) still nothing. I got up early for work went by and it fired right up, I really HATE that dang system right about now.
