learned something very intersting about cars with ASR
was at bill bs getting a new slave installed as well as some other stuff , when i learned that everytime you take off your throttle cable ie plenum pulls etc you MUST re adjust your throttle via adjusting the throttle at the asr. i found this out through greg who helps bill from time to time . we hooked up the scanner and found that for the last year(last time i pulled the plenum) my car has only had 85% throttle when wide open. i thought no biggie wont make much difference , but after greg adjusted and got back home and hooked up the g tech and did some runs on my back road testing ground it does make a big difference.. the car ran 3 tenths faster and 2.1 mph faster than it ever has on my backroad testing ground . i could never figure out why she seemed to labor at the strip above 6500 rpms . she now pulls strong all the way to 7100. so if you have a 92 or later ck out your wide open throttle % you just might find some free hp . the adjustment proceedure is in the fsm.

Re: learned something very intersting about cars with ASR
you can ck it this way. you pull the asr cover off. you will see another cover that has two tabs on the side squeeze the top of the tabs and it will pull off . you will see the unit which looks impressive . looking from the top down you will see a little hole the size of a 1/8 in drill bit . you should be able to put the drill bit all the way thru the cylinders to the gear in the bottem ,if you have to move some of the cylinders to line things up, she needs adjustment. another way to ck is to hook up your scan tool, turn the ignition on only .doing the procedure with the engine on will really piss off the neighbors .lol cycle down to throttle position and press the throttle to the floor it should read 100% and if it read 85% like mine will find out you will have some new power when she gets adjust properly . the whole procedure is in the fsm. lastly i agree that asr is for woosies except on ICE

Re: learned something very intersting about cars with ASR
anyone in Houston have a scan tool? Or can you recommend one for me? This has me very curious anout mine indeed since I have had the plenum off 3 times now and never have adjusted the ASR, I never disconnected the ASR though while it was off. So I wonder it anything could be out of adjustment anyway? Worth checking though.
