Hard Starting 92
I put in a new set of injector this fall, along with new coils and spark plug wires. The car starts and runs well , but I have to pump the gas a little to get it to fire. What would cause this? It started great prior to replacing the parts. Any tips would be a great help.

Re: Hard Starting 92
When you say "hard starting" I assume you mean you have to let it crank a few seconds be for it fires up?
Question 2, Cold, hot or both? BTW stepping on the throttle does nothing. Fuel injected engines don't generally react to throttle input during the starting cycle. H

Fuel injected cars shouldn't need any pedal action to start up normally. The key word here is "normally". However, if something isn't quite right, then maybe it does. My WAG (wild azzed guess) would be that a over-rich condition might exhibit this kind of symptom. Maybe if you had a couple of leaky injectors and two or more cylinders were a tad flooded then a little extra air might be just exactly what the doctor ordered. Is there more than the usual puff of smoke when you start it up? What injectors did you put in? TomC "Crabs

Re: Hard Starting 92
I put in FIC Rebuilt injectors. I know it seems strange that pumping the gas helps in starting but it does. Temperture of the engine doesn't seam to have an effect.

Re: Hard Starting 92
I haven't looked into this yet but on another car this would sound like a dirty idle air path.
Not often you run into "not enough air" but this sure sounds like the case when you would. Good luck, - Jeff

Re: Hard Starting 92
if the car takes a few cranks to turn over that's normal. the way the ignition system is set up it takes a while for the crank sensor to be in the proper position to fire the car

Re: Hard Starting 92
This may sound too basic but when I start mine I turn on the key and wait until the fuel pump stops pressurizing the fuel rails before I turn to start. It starts up every time with out delay.
