I use Mobile 1 0w-40
The standard grades are not available over here and have to be inported. I checked with Marc first and he said it would be perfect for my engine - I guess he knows as he built it!! Its done over 12000 miles in the 1 3/4 years since he built it and its doing just fine. I think regular oil changes are the key more than what make oil. Especially when you consider the amount of old oil that is retained in the engine at an oil/filter change.

M1 since 88.
My 90 BMW 735i had racked up 267,000 miles and was still running strong when I sold the car after 16 years! All my Vettes (84 Z51 after 1988?, 91 ZR1 and 94 ZR1) and assorted cars been running on Mobil 1. |

M1 in everything I own including my fugly looking S-10 beater.
That said I just CHANGED the LT5's oil yesterday ... it now has Amsoil AMO 10-40 with the zinc. My plan is to test the oil every six months to see what is happening and then schedule my oil changes accordingly. George |

I don't mean to be a wise guy, but I just looked in my 90's owner's manual and it says to use 10w-30.
Where did you find the 5w-30 info? ![]() Tom

I understood from reading and talking to Marc H that anything "5W-" was too light for the LT5.
