![]() ![]() Spain is ranked the #1 team in the world and had not lost in 35 matches having won 15. No other national side had even scored on Spain in the last 430 some odd minutes. That is until the 27th minute of the Confederations Cup semi-final today pitting the USA v Spain in South Africa. What a game the US played! They took advantage of very fast counters and speed, which is a hallmark of USA teams. Shooters they're not. The defense was incredible with Tim Howard playing GK and stopping everything. Finally, the USA demonstrated the capability and athleticism it really has. And they did it on the world stage in a very important international tournament. The USA represents CONCACAF which is the futbol confederation for North and Central America and the Caribbean. Typically considered a "creampuff" confederation by the Europeans and S. Americans. The USA and Mexico dominate this region. Next match on Sunday likely to be against the "samba boys" Brazil. Wouldn't that be something especially after Brazil kicked our arse last week 3-0. ![]() ![]() Last edited by XfireZ51; 06-24-2009 at 09:50 PM. |
