Default Original Exhaust Finish

Plan to drop the exhaust out and give the underside of the car a cleaning. Nothing serious. Just some soap and water to get last years dust off.
My question is about the finish on the original mufflers. I'm going to redo them because they are looking a little splotchy. If I recall correctly the mufflers were painted black. Is there a specific finish, texture, gloss, etc?
I know to use high heat, but want to get as close to correct as possible on the look.
Thanks Guys & Gals!!

If I remember correct, my 91 when new was satin black with no texture.

Thanks,
I honestly don't remember what the new one I had in '90 had.
Was thinking it was for sure not glossy.
Think I will try some bar-b-que grill paint and see how it looks.

I have a set of OEM new mufflers for 90/91 never used sitting in the corner of the garage. They have (as mentioned above) black satin finish, no texture.

Thanks Bill. That is good info to have. I have the exhaust out and the underside clean. Need to clean the exhaust, paint mufflers and put it back on.
Will be good to go again when the weather cooperates!

They're flat black. If you really want a polished backside, you can get under there with a compound and it cleans up nice.

Thanks for the feedback. I have already cleaned and re-finished the mufflers in satin high heat black. They look good.
Also shined up the pipes while I had it out. Plan to re-install tomorrow. Will post a pic when done.

Bottom is all clean. Re-installed the exhaust today.
Used high heat black satin on the mufflers and they have a little more shine than I thought they would, but they look nice.
Here's a couple of pics. We all like pics!!
