Rattling screws when top off - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Am I missing something here? The two front screws that hold the top on rattle like crazy because they are just floating in there with the top off. Does anyone know of a piece I'm missing or a trick to stop this madness? Besides music? Thanks in advance!

There is supposed to be two plastic nuts that the screw goes into....If you don't have them see if you can get a nut to fit the screw.....Hand tighten it and it should stop the screw from jiggling around....
I have the nuts to fit that screw on my 91 but even with the nut it does move around some....So what I did was cut out some small pieces of electrical tape, very small I place it on the threads of the screw and when I tighten it, it will catch the nut and hold it....No more rattling around...I have like ten small pieces of black tape in my console so each time I take the top off I just use a new one...
You think with the money these cars cost new the nuts that catch the screw would be made better..

Would the plastic nuts stay on all the time or would I remove them when top goes back on?

You take the nuts off when top goes back on..

Just press the right pedal closer to the floor while driving. The acceleration will pin the bolts and no rattle. Just the sound of a screaming Z! [emoji16]

Take the trim off and tighten the screws. Had to do it on my 88, the top rattled even when tightened down. It won’t take a half hour.

Mine does not rattle with the top off, but when those front bolts particularly the one on the drivers side losens just a little then it rattles with the top on.
