Default Tires

Gentlemen, With Winter almost over it is now time to think about tires. I have received many PM regarding does the ZR-1 Net Registry have a tire discount? I don't know if the ZR-1 Net Registry has a contract with anyone, I have an account that I have let my ZR-1 Brothers use to get tires at a wholesale cost. If you need tires here is some of the pricing.

I'm prolly gonna be calling ya.

You drive on the Nitto "G2s" and from personal experience (following you in heavy rain going to BG) they do much better in those conditions than my 555/555r combo did/does.

Do you recommend G2s on all 4 corners - even to drag race? Or would you prefer to let the G2s "plow" a path for (say) the 555r or NT05s (rear)?

Your experience w/ the variety of combos would be interesting to hear.

With how much you drag race get the standard NT05 for the front and the rears.

Got a great deal thru Robert for a set
of Nitto 555 G2s for my other toy,
a BMW 540i/6 M-Sport, Dinan.
(Dinan is to BMW as Callaway is to Corvette...)
I've been researching for weeks and his connection
was the best price, by a wide margin, that I could find!
The 555 G2s get great reviews and they make 'em in
ZR-1 sizes too!
Thanks Robert!!!

Thanks for offering this up! Do your prices include shipping/taxes or would that be extra?

Sumitomos are already a pretty well discounted tire. They come in the correct size for the ZR-1 but in my opinion, they seemed "small" on the car. They also did not handle the power of the car very well when pushed aggressively.

Sumitomos have been installed on two previous ZR-1's that I have owned and they were the first things to go as well.

Just my two cents.

Sumitomo HRTZ’s are a value tire and customer surveys rank it 10 out of 15 of the high performance tires. Basically it is a good tire, but not an excellent one. It is a best seller because of its low price point and not a max performance tire. If you are not doing any extreme spirited driving and keep to the speed limits, then you’ll be OK.
