Today my 17 year old daughter took it for a spin, and she did great...once she had a seating position that let her see over the cowl! She learned to drive a manual on a BMW M3, which let's face it, is a much easier car to drive. Other than the Z's very forgiving clutch, everything about the ZR-1 is just more...more.

My 4 yo little girl is pretty much my garage monkeys and until she's of age to drive it, probably no one else. Unless of course another Z Brother👍

Family and friends can borrow my wife's car, they can borrow my daily driver 4x4 pickup when needed. In the 14 years I have owned the ZR-1 nobody but me has ever driven it. I don't see this changing ever.

My neighbor drove mine (with me in it).
I was surprised to find out he knew what a Z was when he came over one day... |

I normally have no problems letting someone drive my cars, provided I'm around. My kids generally do a great job, and my daughter is going to autocross the Z this summer which should be fun.
I've only had two hiccups in many years. I had a JCW Mini for a couple years, and someone jumped in and immediately started powershifting and "catching second." I wasn't happy. Then another friend was driving the Ferrari, which has a dogleg 1st transmission. Well he'd never driven one before and when coasting up to a stop he almost put it in reverse! I caught him in time...whew. |

The wife. And me. Don't have a relationship with my daughter - and she can't drive a manual anyway. Son might get to drive it - but he has limited experience with a manual as well and I would have to be with him.
Marc Haibeck drove it once and I wish he would do it again... ![]() Other then that I have one friend from grade school that has always been my best friend that I would let drive it... Last edited by Racinfan83; 05-19-2014 at 06:47 PM. |

I only let three people drive my ZR1. Me , Myself and I.
A modded ZR1 is not for the weak hearted. |
