Built these today , works well
I read a thread some time last year on building these and its been on my list. Sometimes I think its easier to throw the list away
 anyway. Since I don't seem to add very helpful threads I thought I'd share this , so maybe someone can benefit . cheers ;

I started taking picture after I got started ( sorry) . The ramps work pretty well and give more clearance than expected . It took a little over an hour ( I had to eat lunch
2 -2x12x12' and 1- 2x12x8' and 1 pound of screws half a tube of liquid nails . I also cut all levels on a 45 deg. to make driving up a little easier.

I glued and screwed a metal plate on the end as a stop . It was a left over from shims used when I installed my car lift..

This is really easy to build . so If some of the new guys are wondering " how do I git under there and change the oil " well here ya go.. ( yea I spelled GIT )

The main reason I built these is because It seems they will come in handy when the header install drawith nie .. and its summer time and that means time to sharpen mower blades.
Sorry Guys I'm not a computer / camera guru . I wish I could do a better write up... |

I'd rather roll on those than some of the molded plastic ones out there....plus the ramp angel is less steep. I would have never thought to bond the boards with adhesive.

You have motivated me to build my own
 . Was actually looking around at 4 post car lifts, but the one I want is close to $5K (bit out of my range for now). So I went out and bought 4- 2"x12"x12' from Home Depot and a box of 2-1/2" exterior screws for $93. I made 2 ramps gradually inclining to 9" (6 boards high). I'll test them out tomorrow.

aahhhh I dont believe it , show me some pictures
My original plan was to go to a buddy's saw mill and get 2- 8' long 12x12's and let him cut the ramps out of that ( a solid 1 piece ). But sheeezzzz the weight would be killer .. |

Did the same thing - sort of - after driving over the ramps on my old '87.
 Put a nice buckle in the rockers too. Got a pair of 2 x 8's for the ramp 'helpers', to keep the air dam unscathed, and working on something like yours for ramp 'stop / extensions'. With 275 x 45, a phone book sits in the tire recess atop the ramps, so a stop was in order... ed.: Saw a White '96 a few months ago, 62k, $16k, at a dealer (consignment) 'what ARE you smokin'??? , with 2 nasty rocker buckles behind the fronts. They worked perfectly
 . Squared them up, then anchored them to the floor so they wouldn't slide. Plenty of space underneath. Their definitly heavy but very stable,felt safer under them then the jackstands. Drove up slowly and checked how far I was on the last one, because the tire stops aren't the greatest, I'll make better ones later. I stood them up to store them. These are great until I can afford the 4-post lift. |
