They kinda "short stroked" the ZR-1, huh? No mention of its long list of records - some standing to this day. But...It had selectable ride control...

Figgers...

I think the real important thing is that it sprang to mind when they thought of the most significant cars from GM's history.

And I think it should. It was certainly the most bold Corvette program in GM's history, and one of the more bold programs in general. The number of companies involved, the time period, etc. I wonder how many cars in GM's 100 year history had a clean-sheet engine designed and built with no intention of scaling it across any other car, or even trim level of the same car?

Even the V16 Cadillac that made the list, that engine was available on more than one model/style.

I agree. "The ZR-1 is a Corvette, only more so." In the 1980's, it was a bold move to design and build the ZR-1. The C4 Corvette was declining in style and performance. It took a lot of effort to save the marque. I look at the Ford Thunderbird and see that Ford did not build that car to its tradition, and they lost it. Corvette could have suffered the same demise, but the ZR-1 mentality saved the Corvette.

Hey...12th is 12th, i'll take that . i don't look at it as a negative at all. with all the controversy that followed the car after it's inception, within G.M., i'm a little surprised it's even in the top 45.

I think they were in chronological order, not any kind of significance ordering.
