probably not too early as Mercruiser was involved later on in the development....did thy try using the LT-5 for watercraft crate motors? From what I have heard the torque curve was not good for boats.
Cool Stuff!

IIRC Mercruiser did reserve the right to use the LT5 in a marine application. Maybe that was a prototype or similar for the LT5 marine application?
GM is using the derated LS9 ZR-1 (the LSA 6.2-530hp@5400rpm/545lb/ft@4000rpm) as their high hp marine engine to replace the GEN 7 BBC 8.1(496). peace Hog |

I remember one boat company, Formula, did actually have the LT5 on the option list for some of their sport boats. It's been too long and I don't want to say for sure which model or models had the option. I know it was a very expensive option though.
The only reason I know Formula did have the option is I had a small Formula and of course you look at the bigger stuff & think "if only...." I don't even remember what model year the option was offered. I remember seeing an LT5 at the NY boat show in 1990 at the Mercruiser booth. It was a marine version complete with a drive....I just can't remember if the drive was a TRS or a Bravo 1, or an Alpha 1 HD......senility stinks!
