Default PF970C Oil Filters

Have I lost touch? It seems I cannot buy real AC Delco PF970C filters anywhere. Did they stop making them or something? I tried at Carlisle in August, but none of the vendors there had them with them. I've tried locally here in Charlotte, but again to no avail. Last week I ordered them online from Parts Geek in NJ. They sent me two PF970C filters and three PF9 filters. Obviously the PF9 filters are wrong, but the two PF970C filters were rusty and looked like they had been sitting in damp storage for years. That order is being returned for credit today. Meanwhile I found PF970C filters listed on Eckler's website so I ordered two. This morning I got an email from them saying they are on backorder. Marc Haibeck says to use this filter, but how can I use it if I can't buy it. Please enlighten. Thanks.

Picked up one at my local Chevy dealership yesterday. They have 10 more on the shelf. About $15 Canadian.

Did you get the blue filter, or one of the black filters?

Hey guys, thanks for all your help and your offers. Let me be clear, though. I'm looking for the recent blue PF970C filters--the ones Marc Haibeck recommends because they hold oil long enough to prevent timing chain rattle on start-up. The old black ones are correct appearance wise, but I don't think they held up to Marc's testing. On another note,
no one has really answered my question. Does Delco still make and supply the blue PF970C filter? If not, you can be sure I'm going to try to scarf up a decent quantity of NOS for my friend Matt and me. I have a '90 ZR-1 and he has a '91.

I am wondering the same thing. I will go buy a few if they are getting hard to get. When I went to the first dealership they didn't have and said that none of the warehouses in Canada had them and would have to be ordered from the US. Then he checked local availability and found 11 at the dealership on the other side of town.

YES, You can still buy the PF970C filter at the stealership. They still make and stock them. I just bought them, and 0 chain rattle at start up.
