Ok here is # 1124 4400 miles. Original everything including tires, the air in them, oil filter, you name it. (except battery)
Anyway, going to do the NCRS circuit, etc. If I get some time this summer. Thanks to David Johnson, who ran inspection duty on the car before I bought it. Also to the fellow who went with, I didnt get your name. P.S. David.....I got the grime off it. Thanks.....next I need to tackle the engine compartment. the 4 bar rear end was a breeze to clean after you get the wheels off of it.
The engine compartment looks like a nightmare to detail. The front tilt hood doesnt make it easy to get to down behind the front valence area,but I will get to it little at a time. I understand you need to REALLY chill on cleaning the plenum area due to easy staining of the powder coat?? Also, what a total piece of $hit the hood release latch under the dash is. Mine needs replaced and its obviously not been used much. Cheap plastic crap. I got a new one from corvette recyclers. $62K for a car (when it was new), and the hood latch lever is Yugo quality. Other than that the car is a freaking weapon, and thats on rock hard tires. Cant really "light the wick" with the original tires on it, and live to tell about it. So far im having fun. I see a few crayon markings still on the underside. Behind the wheels I still see "RR" "LR" etc markings. Somewhere up front I understand you can find a build sheet. Im not gonna try and get the one off the gas tank. Its easier to order one form NCM, but it would be fun to find the one in the frame or wherever I ve heard it is. My speakers and bladders in the seats still work. I was told not to expect that to happen, so I was happy about that. Long way to go before its concours ready. Thats half the fun for me. Peace. since this car is all original, the plenum doesn't have a powder coat, it is paint and it stains VERY easily. don't use any cleaning product on the plenum or cam covers. only a cotton towel damp with water is safe. if you did have powder coat then staining would be impossible. she looks incredible, but those tires are a death trap. once you are done showing the vehicle definitely get some fresh rubber to safely enjoy the power of your car. the harder you drive it, the more it rewards you. good luck with NCRS.

Nice find... strongly suggest a total fluid change out...oil, tranny, diff, hydraulics, PS & coolant....
Build sheet for the ZR is glue to the top of the gas tank... drop spare tire hatch and remove (need to do anyway since you will be amazed at the dirt that thing collects)...get on back and look up at tank and you probably will see leading edge of the build sheet...most of the time they are fairly well glued on thus trying to remove will tear up sheet. Did ZR come with the jack and bag? spare tire bag? Any other documentation with it (window sticker etc.)? Enjoy the adventure ![]() Last edited by ZR1Vette; 03-09-2009 at 05:56 AM. |
