There's a mention on the auction site about the ZR-1 logo on the front bumper. We all know it didn't come that way... One auction commenter said that way back in the day Registry members put them on their cars to note they were Registry members? Never heard this one? Can any "Oldtimers" collaborate? |

I'm a "Old-timer" that can collaborate regarding the ZR-1 emblem located on the front bumper passenger side.
I joined the ZR-1 Registry back in November of 1992 with my 1990 ZR-1 so when the question came up I went back into the archives to verify and here is what I found. In the newsletter dated August of 1994 you can purchase the emblem from Chevrolet for about $8.00 +/-. The placing of a ZR-1 emblem just below the passenger side driving light would both serve to identify your vehicle as a ZR-1 and to denote to other Registry members that you are a member of "The Supercars Superclub". And yes I still own the 1990 ZR-1 that i purchase 29 years ago. . |

History at its best, maybe a reunion with the ZR-1 Registry in the near future?

Yep, I also am an old timer and former member of Larry Merow's original ZR-1 Registry. The front emblem was a thing many of us did--we felt that ZR-1s needed something on the front to identify them. It also served to identify Registry members as most people did not do this. Here's my '93 which I bought in 1994; Not everyone's cup of tea, but I also painted all my ZR-1 fender, rear and front emblems red to be a little different. --Bob

Pretty interesting that the bidding is now at $27K with an hour and a half to go. For a car with 17K miles! (Not a lot, obviously, but definitely not going to command museum type prices, it's gonna have to be a driver for someone.)
