Too bad NASA wouldnt let him run BOTH ways for verification. It took him 2 years to get onto the Shuttle Landing Facility.

The difference is being a production car, of course their are faster tuner cars. And the Venom being a Production car are debateable.

Well here is a "production car" made in the USA and I think tops the Venom as well. If fact this company has two models that will do so I believe. http://www.sscnorthamerica.com/tuatara.php It boils down to the point that these supposed "production cars" are now built by tuners so are they really PRODUCTION after all is said and done? I guess that is why the ZR-1 is so special since it really is a production car and thousands were sold. To me that is the real difference. A common man can afford and actually buy one from his local dealer. We are so lucky that this happened and now get to live the dream of actually owning a true supercar on a affordable budget. Long live the KOTH. |

My comment about the Venom not being allowed to back up the run at NASA's Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF) was in reference to the Guiness Book of World Records. Guiness requires a record setting pass to be backed up, by returning down the opposite direction. Hennessey remarks that there was a small amount of cross wind, so that the backup run, if allowed, wouldnt have affected much. The Guiness Book also classifies a "production" car to have 30 or greater cars produced. Last I heard there were 29 Venom GT's sold. I also learned that while the VW is fast, it also required 4 miles to get to its top speed. Thats a lot of ground to be covered. |
