I just found out my Z is missing an ECM cover (the triangle-ish panel that extends from the ECM and covers the wires). Does anyone have an original/used one for a 1991 Z?

I am getting to believe they might be rare as I am having a hard time finding them in a search. Carter should cut a nice plate out of Aluminum with some etching on it in red indicating the CHIP that is running ![]() Carter could have some nice Aluminum Pegs that fit around the ECM like the standard bolted to the plate with some nice SS Allen Head Bolts. And under the plate some Velcro like the plastic plate has. And if you are not into "Flash" that Aluminum Plate could be painted a nice Flat Black. And maybe those brackets that hold the plate into position could be designed to "lock" the plate into position so it would NOT fall off under the hood if the Velcro does not do its job. Try this Corvettenutz Or....... Corvettenutz Vette2Vette ebay Justcorvette Justcorvettes

There seems to be two different styles of ecm wire cover. The big one with the velco attachment (that rubs a little on my hood, and the slim one that just covers the harness plugs.
which year is supposed to have what? |

'90 & '91 should have the flat "Velcro" secured cover. '92+ should have the conduit type cover that snaps over just the connectors on the rear. A '91 L98 is cataloged by SPO to have the conduit type cover for just the connectors also.

Wow! I bought mine for $40. I just used 3M dual-lock strips that you can buy at target for $3. It is a much stronger velcro style of interlocking tapes. People seem to remove the velcro sometimes. I think my ecm still had the piece on it. My next question is why are so many vettes missing this part? Last edited by mike100; 02-11-2014 at 12:43 PM. |
