Default LT5/ZR-1 certified tech

Hello to all the Z owners north of NYC in suburbia....I found a certified tech at a local dealership. The chevy store where this tech works is about 30 miles north of NYC...I'm not gonna post any more than that because I don't know if it is proper forum behavior for me to post that stuff...PM me if you want the the details...be happy to share the contact info.

Right now my car is there being looked at for some things and I'll let any one know if I'm satisfied with the service....I'm not a mechanic and don't have a garage to work in...I rent a garage & can get away with some things but not much beyond simple pojects so I've been looking for a shop to establish a relationship with as a fall back position....all I can say for now is it's a new chevy store and they have two techs ( one owns a C4 ) certified C4-5-6 & the one LT5/ZR-1 C4-5-6 Tech...and the service dept is enthusiastic about their work as is the store owner about doing business the honest way...this guy knows that the back of the store is where the $ is if "they do the right thing"...give the customer what they paid for!

Z Factor, If I am out of line with this post, it was not my intention to transgress our rules. I apologize sincerely.

Tom

Not at all. As rkreigh correctly said, this type of information is welcome. Anyone who is actually a certified ZR-1/LT5 mechanic is rare to find these days, so feel free to share the info with all the members.

Thanks Ron & Z Factor!

Yea I was farily jazzed about finding an actual ZR1 Tech and a crew of techs that actually own C4's!
I Just didn't know if posting sort of an advertizement for a specific chevy store was proper as they are not a supporting vendor/tuner...any way here's the 411 on these guys...

TaconicChevrolet.com, Rt. 202(3809 Crompond Rd), Yorktown Hgts, NY10598 the # 1-800- 790- 5743, ask for Tom or John in the service dept, they are the advisors & they'll try to get your Z flying right!

Keep in mind and from what Ive been told, to have been a certified ZR1/LT5technician only meant you needed to get the ZR1 service tape from GM, view the tape and answer question after. No formal teaching, grading or policing.
This procedure does mean a service dept wants to service the ZR1 and is far better than the average clown, but you must understand it doesnt mean they are experts with the ZR1. Always use caution.
In your case, it a big advantage to have a ZR1 tech a C4 owner.

I believe finding a certified ZR-1 tech is like anything else we do involving these cars and thats research. It is likely that some Chevy shops have certified techs in name only, but in my case a local Chevy dealer down the street from me has three. I had a lengthy conversation with the service manager before I decided to take my car to them when I had a problem a few months back. After learning of this dealership's effort to keep trained ZR-1 techs I decided to give them a shot and they did not disappoint me.

While I don't intend to have them do major work to my car, the shop is equipped to work on the cars and the techs have been trained so they do know their way around the LT5.
