I have been talking with these guys for a bit and it appears they can get the Valeo LT5 clutches for our cars. I also think their pricing on the LT1 clutches is lower than most other places. They are located in Idaho Falls, Idaho and are part of a company I have used before (Idaho Transmission Warehouse). They have provided excellent customer service at their store in Boise. Anyway, if anyone can use them, that's great.

I understand where you are getting at with your question now. I have been talking to a couple of the OE manufacturers to figure out what is going on. This is what they told me: The Valeo clutch that would be found behind the LT5 has been discontinued by Valeo and consequently, Valeo now sells the one that bolts behind the LT1 for the LT5 as well. The $276.73 is for said LT1 engine and can work behind the LT5 too. It sounds like you would like to avoid this option if possible. I called and talked to a different supplier of OE components to find a kit that was intended for the LT5 specifically. They do have a couple of them, with more scheduled to be produced in November. The kits themselves are more expensive however - $347.87. Because it has the dual mass flywheel, I also looked into the option of a conversion kit produced by an OE manufacturer; no luck there. The difference between the clutch for an LT1 and the LT5 is found in the pressure plate ? the discs are the same. So at this point, your options would be the $276.73 for a clutch intended for the LT1, but will work in the LT5 - or - $347.87 for one designed specifically for the LT5. I don?t know how these prices compare to what your other sources offer, but if they are still competitive, I would be happy to advertise on your site! Hi Tyrone,

Would you consider advertising that price on the ZR1 Net Registry if you can get the right clutches? It is populated by people who own ZR-1 Corvettes and I think you would do well. I can put you in touch with the person(s) to get that done if the clutches are available. Our problem has been that only the LT1 clutches are available from sources and they don?t have the holding capabilities of the LT5 clutches. You also have to install them with shorter bolts to make them work.

Thanks for the research. It would be useful to see if they know the difference between the '90-'93 throwout bearing and the '94-'95 throwout bearing. That seems to be one of the problems with current suppliers of LT5 clutch kits.

Was the price he listed include the dual mass flywheel?

If you use the LT1 set up you will need to change screws for the pressure plate from LT1.

That's what I would do. They have a toll free number if I remember right. Ask for Tyrone and tell him I sent you so he knows there's interest from the Registry.

Just got the following email from Tyrone at the clutch store. Sounds like he is aware of the pilot bearing difference. Also note, there are only two more DMF left in the Valeo inventory. Man.

I followed your link to your post and read through the page. One individual had a problem contacting us that I hope we now have resolved on our website (inquiries now going to the right e-mail). Jim asked a question about the throwout bearing differences for the years he stated. The difference is found in the inner diameter of the thowout bearings. The '90-'93 has about a 35mm diameter and the '94-'95 has about a 33.4 diameter and comes with a plastic sleeve. In answer to his secondary question about the prices including the flywheels, they do not. Unfortunately, Valeo has just two left in stock as of today (12/13/10) with no intention of producing any more, and I suspect the cost of them to be into the mid $2k range. I haven't had the chance to talk to other OE suppliers, but I suspect I would hear a similar story. Hope that helps and again, we appreciate the feedback!
