Re: Bringing the Champ back to fighting condition
Point made and well taken. However, I recommend it on terminals, NOT for conductivity but rather prevention of oxidation & corrosion which is damaging to metal parts and thusly the conductivity of the metal to metal contact. If a conductive lubricant is needed, then the contacts either are failing or have failed.
Di-electric/silicone grease is also good to apply to the weather seals, because it keeps the rubber pliable & soft, enhancing its ability to seal. I have used it on weatherstripping with much success. I do not recommend it on any part which seals or comes in contact with the fuel system. The silicone will permanently damage the catalyst. Having said that, what other type of grease would serve the same purpose on contacts & terminals? I am always receptive to new lessons.
