As for bypassing the switch - it is done all the time to eliminate just one more aging connection that sooner or later will cause a "no start" situation. Just try to remember not to turn the starter before engaging the clutch!

I don't know, but it might be possible to reposition the switch so it will be engaged according to the new travel characteristic.
As long as you can hold the clutch peddle down while the engine is at idle, and be able to smoothly shift gears from 1, 2...6, R without feeling like you have to force it in any gear...then I would guess the replacement master cylinder is going to work. But, if there is hesitation going into any one or more gears, then either the capacity of the new master is inadequate, or possibly the slave needs to be replaced as well. In any case, you don't want to be forcing it into gear(s) due to the clutch not fully disengaging, or the synchros are going to be ruined, and the ZFs are not cheap to buy parts for!
