Default Differences in knock sensors?

The knock sensor is a piezoelectric crystal with a pickup wire. But, apparently, the associated "plumbing" includes a resistor network that differs among the model years. According to Bob G, a sensor from another MY resulted in considerable timing retarding on one of his engines (the ECM falsely sensing knock, apparently).

Mine works, far as I know, but the plastic ring to which the connector "grabs hold" got brittle with age/heat and part of the ring broke off - now making the connection precarious at best!

So, Q: Has anyone found a reasonable facsimile, if not an OEM, knock sensor that works on a 90? Granted, the connector may have to be changed to accommodate one from a different source/application, but this car is an FBI "warrior" and not a waxer; NCRS is not an issue here.

TIA
