Your LT5 is almost identical to my LT5 in modifications as well as in issues (valve melted)
As well as identical in down time
Do you have a thread that describes all you did (I know you did complete top end porting). What camshaft timing did you end up with? I see you have Marc's chip in your signature (any special programming such as fans on early or power mode set normally to FULL?).
Cam timing is written on a piece of paper and buried in a Mason jar, somewhere in Pete's backyard. It is a secret FBI recipe known only to Pete n Bob G. It works...
Stock cams, BTW.
Power setting "locked" on Full - has to be b/c above 1% throttle, the duty cycle is split between the primary and secondary injectors - thus maintaining the A/F mix in proper proportions (in closed loop).
Marc's chip:
-both fans come on at 205* and turn off at 200*. Engine performance is optimized to run within those temps.
-timing advance dictates premium fuel only
-anti-backfire with headers
-idle control settles the idle quickly after deceleration and initial start-up
-additional fuel for a "top end" only. So, once past the "infant mortality" for the head porting, some tuning will need to be done to realize full potential.
-chip supports running with no secondary throttle plates at all.
What other interesting modifications did you make? I would like to see the details just in case I missed something
What injectors did you end up with and what did you do to flywheel, clutch, differential?
Injectors = RCs, newly replaced when I bought the car
Fidanza FW, Center Force sprung hub disc (LT1 camaro)
AutoZone pressure plate w/ lifetime guarantee
Stock diff, but plan to go to a 4.10 as soon as po$$ible.
Did you install "C" Beam Plates or C4 Frame Brace?
C-beam plates
Did you change radiator, thermostat, fans?
No.
You eliminated CATS and Secondaries.....did you eliminate the Air Induction system and TB/Plenum coolant?
Eliminated the AIR and plugged the IH, preventing coolant from entering the TB.
What grade of gas are you going to burn and what plugs are you using?
93 octane, and using the AC Delco Platinum 41-800s. But! Not again. The standard copper plugs from now on.
Just asking....
Do you happen to have the details all in a single thread or single post
