Jim there is no place that a jack can be placed to use the gear housing as a jack point. There is too much stuff in the way, exhaust pipes mainly, to even get the jack pad on the gear housing. There aren't any cross members to catch either. I for sure wouldn't even think to use the C beam or the pinion housing end of the beam as a jack point.

You need Marc's device or you do one side up at a time and put the jack stands in the recess just in front of the rear wheel well. There is a metal channel that is oriented transversely at that point and that is where I put my jack stand. Just mind the brakes lines and the parking brake cable on the left side. There is nothing much in the way on the right side.
