Default Good Intentions

I'm fortunate to be great friends with Bob Hall, the Southwest Regional Director. He is Mr. ZR-1 and a great goodwill ambassador-at-large. (and I'm not talking about his figure).

Bob, along with Corey Henderson, Glen Breitung and others recently executed the annual Texas barbeque. Karen & I attended and had a GREAT time and made new friends and enjoyed seeing our old friends.

Bob & I have discussed the possibility of trying to pattern a SouthWest ZR-1 Gathering event like the Ford Gathering here in Oklahoma last summer. It would go something like this:

1. Track Day @ Hallett Motor Racing Circuit http://www.hallettracing.net/

2. Drag Racing @ Tulsa Raceway Park http://www.tulsaracewaypark.com/

3. Gathering in Stillwater, OK with something like a replay of Thunder at Stillwater and invite Graham Behan, Rick Kirk, Dave McLellan, Greg VanDeventer and others that were a part of the history. I have not checked with MercCruiser about how they might be able to participate, but I have "friends" who work there that were "in the building" when the ZR-1was being built. An autocross may also be possible in Stillwater.

Stillwater would be a good place to stay with plenty of lodging, good eating & the home of Oklahoma State University!

Oklahoma is a little thin for ZR-1's but our central location makes it potentially a very good location and all types of events.

Consider this a "call-out" for all the ZR-1 folks in Oklahoma to contact me and maybe we can actually pull this off. Surely, if the Ford folks can do it (and believe me they did a heck of a job) then so can we.

So...... what do you guys think about an event like this?
