Default Re: US-41 Corvette Drags Event

Awesome day! Watching Pete n Dom run was thrillin stuff. I didn't intend to run, but excitement got to me, and sooo.... This was my first official drag race, and I ran a 13.2 at 111.x mph on a stock ZR-1. Dom and Pete wondered if I had short-shifted, and I believe I did shift short of 7k.

On the next run I made a point to run it out to see what would happen, but the dyno test from a couple weeks ago foretold that story: power peaks around 5.8k, so shifting around 6.3 or 6.4 would be a "good thing" (apparently), and wringing it out to 7k - sounded great - but not productive for the stock setup. However, that is about to change...I have a die grinder and new 3" SW headers, and I reeeeeeeeaaallly liked the look and sound of both Pete's (modified B&B) and Doms 3" (Flowmaster??) exhausts - especially the sound of Dom's. Sooo, I have a winter project, "fer sher". (P&P the top, SW headers, 3" something (no cats), mebby a bigger TB(?), and a tune, of course. Then we'll see what that does to the traps!)

Dom is right tho...The Z's held their own and pulled like a freight train past the 1/8 point" - especially theirs which don't peak (hp wise) until 7k+. These cars love their "Rs"!! Long live the KOTH!
