It appears that the car sat without a lot of attention for some time. There are a number of little issues that I'm in the process of resolving. One of the issues is a gas gauge that is stuck on full - but my range readout is accurate, so it's not a big deal. However, I want to make this car as perfect as possible and am fixing replacing everything as necessary. This is one for which I had no solution, because I have no idea as to what the problem might be. It was recommended to me that I reach out to Marc Haibeck, ZR-1 Specialist.
I sent an email last night, not expecting that I would receive a response anytime soon - or even at all - considering a need of such minor importance. To my surprise, I had a response email from Marc in my Inbox this morning when I checked my emails. UNBELIEVABLE! This guy not only responded quickly to my meager request, but he knew the issue and provided me with a couple solutions. This guy is certainly the foremost authority on ZR-1s, no doubt...but he's also superb in his customer service.
Even though I'm about 7 hours from Marc's shop, I'm considering taking my car to him now to get the work done and have him look it over. I'd like him to do all my work. What a great guy!

What a love fest! Everything said is true of course. The reason you got an email quickly is he does his emailing around 2 AM. His day starts around 10:30 AM (son Bob is there earlier) and he always works late into the night, especially when he is road testing his 510+ HP creations on the local roads around the industrial park his shop is in. If you are a new owner I would strongly recommend you make an appointment to ship your car to Marc when he can get to it. I did that on both my ZR-1s when I got them, and asked him to fix whatever is needed plus make a few changes I wanted. He will examine the entire car and make recommendations on what is needed. He will change all the fluids and filters. He found things on my cars that I would never have even thought to ask about and took care of them. And always his prices are extremely reasonable. When you get your car back you will have no worries about it at all. Except that you will start dreaming about 510 HP, 4.10 gears, headers, short throw shifters and things like that. You will wake up in the middle of the night screaming: I NEED those things! That is your primary risk in dealing with Mr. ZR-1. --Bob
