The secondary pump only runs (1)for a few minutes @ cold start and (2)open loop conditions, key on, 3000+ rpm.
I understand that the OP's inquiry is if the primary pump fails on the road, can the secondary pump can be used in closed loop by installing a jumper.
A search of the forum should turn up a thread from the lat year or so that has all of this resolved by a jumper made by one of the members that would plug in at the gas tank connector to enable using the secondary pump in the event the primary fuel pump failed on the road.
