Interesting I always thought they were the same. I happen to have both sitting on my work bench. At the very least the harness connector is the same between the two as you can see from the photo. They do serve different purposes. Looking them up in the GM parts reference the do show different part numbers 16006834 for the MAP sensor and 16137039 for the MDPS sensor.
