Default Re: C-8,cheaper than our cars new..

Now that the option prices are available, I built the C8 Stingray as I would order it, and it prices out at $83,215. The Z51 suspension was the most costly option at $5,000, with the highest-cost interior (3LT), "front lift" option (to protect the splitter) and performance exhaust being the other most significant options cost wise ($1,895, $1,495 and $1,195 respectively). It's a lot of car for $83K.

The ZO6 is rumored to be coming in no more than two years. It is supposed to be powered by a twin turbo version of the LT2 in the Stingray. It is reported to produce approximately 730HP.

The Zora (or ZR1) is rumored to be coming about two years after the ZO6 with about 1,000HP using the same twin turbo as in the ZO6 complemented by electric motors up front.

These products will make for an incredibly strong Corvette line up designed, in part, to attract the next generation and those of us that have an interest in adapting. Even if the ZO6 and Zora are in the $100K and $150K ranges respectively, these are still high-value priced cars relative to the sports car market.

I did the Black Hills Corvette Classic in July, and I was surprised (pleasantly) by the significant number of young people (30s and 40s) that were there and participating in the events (autocross, drag racing, 0-60, road tours, etc). If GM's intent was to attract younger buyers with the C7, that sure seems to be working. That said, I was also pleased to see the demographic at the Gathering in BG this year as well, with more and more younger people in C4s. In general, anything good for Corvette is good for the 4th generation and our ZR-1s as well.

All that said, I am looking forward to taking the ZR-1 for a spirited run this evening - IT NEVER GETS TIRED.

It's a great time to be a car person!
