The GT did score class wins, but amazingly, while other OEMs have gone for the overall win, GM or Ford have never done that since Ford’s win over Ferrari in the 60’s.

The amount of time, development cost, etc, to run a car and WIN overall at LeMans / Daytona 24 hours, is insane. And not to mention insanely expensive. I doubt any American car company will ever pull off the feat the 1960s GT40 did. Different times and different motivations at Ford than today....
Ford makes me scratch my head at times. With production stopping of the GT and of all cars but the Mustang, their performance division is sad. I already see too many damn Mustangs on the road now, and not looking forward to seeing 8 different variations of it. Seems like a bad business decision, but I'm not in the business of making cars.
The C8 will be a world beater. Maybe not the 1st model year, but give it a few years of production and an all out performance model. I can't imagine taking your Halo car, totally re-engineering this radically, to have it be not better than a Cadillac.
