Default Re: Clutch replacement

Hi Bob,

The best pressure plate for cars with up to 550 hp is the OE style Valeo unit. The posts are 1 3/8" tall. Not 1" like a L98 uses. It's likely yours is still in good condition and can be continued in service. We use the Centerforce 381039 sprung disk. Summit Racing part number CTF-381039.The disk is thicker than the Valeo disk. Use .005" shims under it to compensate. Six shims are needed. McMaster-Carr part number 97235K138. If the shims are not used the pedal will release the clutch too close to the floor. We use a roller pilot bearing. AC-Delco CT1078. Drive 500 miles in traffic before doing a standing start launch.

Note that the 1 3/8" pressure plate is no longer available from Valeo. The new pressure plates sold today for the ZR-1 are L98 style and made in China.
