Where the shift control is doesn't matter much. Why do people confuse paddle shift auto with the DCT trans.? Different animals entirely. Does it have a torque converter, or doesn't it?

I like the idea of a ten speed automatic. One step closer to the ideal, an electronically controlled CVT.
Only problem is the inherent loss using a torque converter, but GM has been attempting to reduce that loss since the late 90's with the ECCC technology. Having the TCC in an almost constant state of application helps with efficiency.
You're correct, a paddle shifter is simply a switch. You can install them in any V8 rwd Vette, F-body back to 93/94 when the 4l60e was introduced.


GM is sure to remind us that they did design there own trans controller, and not sharing the electronics with Ford. Though this is a Ford designed transmission. In return GM allowed Ford to use its FWD 9 speed auto. Tit for Tat.
