Re: Comments on Cars for Sale
I've been in many of these discussions, so from the other side, many of these users are coming here solely to place a for sale ad. Some of them haven't even answered questions or interacted in their own for sale ads.
There are venues that allow no feedback, forums aren't one of those venues. A change of rules may prevent those comments, but I don't think stifling discussions in the hope that it raises ZR1 sale prices is overly ethical.
I think the opposite could be argued about some of the comments. Does listing all these cars for pie in the sky prices artificially raise the price or values? Is that honest?
Truthfully, the comments don't affect the value. People will list cars for what they hope to get, and buyers will pay what they want, and deals will be made in between. Random internet opinions aren't going to change people's minds about what they want to pay or list their cars at. And many of those for sale threads are getting dozens of free bumps to the top.
The unsold cars don't say anything about the actual value of a car. The ones that have sold on here do. And they aren't saying great things about current values. When you take in outside evidence from the overwhelming majority of auction sales, they are showing the same trend.
I started a valuation thread, but people would rather start the discussions in the for sale threads. As soon as discussion got switched to the valuation thread, it died. Although maybe a classifieds rule change would help shift the discussion back there.
