I put an auto in my '90, and everyone said a dedicated tranny controller would be easier to wire in, than to re-code the ECM.

Of course, your PCM already is written for auto control, but ISN'T coded for LT5.

Perhaps put in a Z ECM, and wire in the controller. And put in a second fuel pump, fuel line, etc., ...

Will the Dana 30 (or 35?) rear handle LT5 power? Probably...
