I remember flying into LaGuardia soon after 9/11. Going up the Hudson and not seeing those twin Giants there. Felt as if I had lost my right arm. They were supposed to be there. I grew up in Brooklyn and remember those buildings going up. They were the butt of NY jokes back then but became such a symbol of the city. So recognizable, like two titans guarding the entrance to the harbor but also letting travelers know "Welcome to the Big Apple, we do big things here".

The first time I saw them they looked like this from the Empire State building in 1969. I'll never forget it because I did not know they existed
until I viewed them from there. What an impact it had on me.
The last time I saw them was a few months before 911
