I'm surprised no one is saying "just toss it".
Lots of parts just get tossed for less reason than forgetting to put it back in.

I found a 3in x 1/4in dia bolt on the garage floor. Have no idea where it goes. It's definitely an automotive bolt. I have no idea where it goes.
It is unique in that the treads on the tip go all the way to a sharp point.
It's like a GIANT self taping screw. I checked the radiator stack and see no place for it.
