Please excuse my ignorance on this topic, but I'm not clear on how this would be used.

As a replacement for the stock ECM? Or for tuning cars that have such exotic mods that can't be handled by just re-tuning the prom in the stock ECM?

If you used it as a replacement for the stock ECM, where would you get all the necessary basic programing that GM put in originally?
