! ! ! WAZOO DOES IT AGAIN ! ! !

Thanks to Jim, Phil, David, Kevin, Bert, and Yun, my ZR-1 received a heart valve transplant (commonly known as a crankshaft oil galley plug). This was a most interesting procedure as a previous mechanic tried to cover up their mis-deed by filling the end of the crankshaft with RTV. With lots of patience and attention to detail, the RTV was removed and the old plug was removed. Phil then used his custom tool to install the new crankshaft oil galley plug (looks like a small freeze plug) with some specialized Locktite Bearing Compound (620). The tool was made to insert the plug 12mm. The latest information says the plug needs to be 14mm deep so some fine detail work was necessary to move the plug the extra 2mm into the crank.

The next step in the procedure called for replacing the fluted crankshaft bearing (again with a custom tool) (behind the craknshaft oil galley plug). The rest of the surgery was the more common type of clutch replacement surgery with a transfusion (Oil/Filter change) thrown in.

If that weren't enough, they continued on my car and my A/C is BACK! Replacement of the HVAC blower fan (and the resistor plate) cured what was ailing my A/C. For the first time in a very long time I drove home in Air Conditioned comfort. I tried to get the A/C to form icicles on my nose but alas, it is a ZR-1 and the A/C isn't quite that good.

Of course we had the traditional WAZOO lunch to make it a proper WMD. Great German Choclate cupcakes were had by all thanks to Bert's wife (Happy Birthday Bert!).

All in All I have crossed over from leaky statue to Supercar. WAZOO elimintaed the terrible oil leak that has been plaguing my car (this is the third clutch since the unnamed shop decided RTV would hide their mistake). Now that my car is closing in on daily driver status (mechanical stuff all works), I can start to look at all the fun enhancements and yes, maybe even some visiual improvements in time.
THANK YOU ALL!
