The SCFM flow 1/2 the Ultra flos as well as single in and out with the offset, but otherwise pretty cool concept. You are right about the NPPs and I have given up already.

Nothing magic about NPP gates (aka flappers). Gates abound in various sizes, I recon. So, no need to "bend over" for someone selling NPPs, unless you just hafta have the Z06 trumpets.
Summit has several electric gates; pairs running between $250 ish to $350 ish in sizes from 2-1/4, 2-1/2, 3, and up. My point being, the Dynamax muffs are about $170, and add maybe $350 and we're looking at $520 ish for parts. Just something to keep in mind if the NPPs route get stupid pricy.
However, I like price and simplicity of the vacuum actuator approach. Getting the mechanical gates to adapt the cheap little actuators to would be the next quest. (I have yet to see them at Summit. Any suggestions??)
Also, my comment about IN-LINE gates that have a reduced size opening through the flap seemed to get short shrift 'round here, I guess. The advantage might be even greater noise reduction, based on my experience with the concept on a motorcycle, AND they would be easy for a DIY'er to install somewhere ahead of the muffler; no need to cut and weld muff tips, to fit the flapper, etc was my thought. Welding needed would be minimized (with say 3" gates inserted into the 3" pipe on the inlet side of the muff.)
