exhaust gas temperature, flow, and volume data
basically l want to know the exhaust muffler end temps, flows, and volumes for a range of speeds so as to be able to graph them....1000-7500 in increments
alternatively if the data is not available, does anyone have a suggestion for a specific flow and volume tool (something to shove on the end of the pipe) temps l can do with a thermocouple all can be considered from theory I guess..... compression volume+(bore cross section area X stroke) X 1 RPM = 5.7 ltr.... However, working out the difference on gas volumes and flows from the header to the muffler resulting from the drop in exhaust gas temperature are a little too much thermodynamic theory for me to figure Reason.....Im doing some detail remote turbo sizing calc checks Dave |

dave , i would direct you to corey henderson , he has an engineering degree ,and maybe allready has the info you seek,he has a link on the performance part of the links on the registry .

If you calculated that info at the manifold, you could determine what it would be at the tailpipe if you knew the temperature and pressure using the ideal gas law. At the tailpipe past the muffler, presumably the pressure is atmospheric, so a temp probe would be all that you'd need.

basically lm trying to find out the following conditions at different RPMs....
pressure lbs/in2 , flow CFM, velocity ft/sec, temp and at the point in the exhaust piping just behind the axle (assume straight through stock pipe diameter from header....so about 7ft of 3" per bank....and no muffler I know l can assume a lot from calculation but some kind of bench measured data is what lm hoping for........"proof of the theory" How do l find corey ? |

trouble with hooking it up (the turbo) and trying it out is that you run the risk of buying a $2000 turbo and never knowing if the ideal size is just a little bit different from what you took a guess at....maybe not much, inducer/exducer/AR size, but you dont get to exchange em once you have used em.....so actual test data over a rev range at the point of location for the turbo is the best info you can get for optimum turbo choice.
