Throttle body top plate

I removed, cleaned and reinstalled the plate w/ hi-temp silicone.
How long should I let the car sit before driving?

Thanks.

Weather is hit or miss (possible rain).
I guess I will just stay home and let it cure.

I've been told that our ZR-1's won't melt in the rain but I'm not so sure that I'd want to test that theory.

Trust me! It does not melt in rain nor snow.
When I work, I drive in any weather (or get fired).
However, since I have been laid off, it's one luxury I have been enjoying.

I remember driving mine in the rain once. That was the day I found out my wiper motor didn't work, and I got the hint that the car didn't like the rain.

Re: Throttle body top plate

One of magazine article when C4 was introduced quoted a GM engineer comment that wiper is not needed once the car reaches 55 mph due to windshield angle and aerodynamics. Rain water rolls up the shield and sheds itself.

Also, for those who don't drive in rain, it's mesmerizing to watch rain water rotate (right side and left side in opposite direction) on top of headlight housing due to vortex when the headlight is in up position.

I was driving my "new" yellow '94 ZR-1 down to Bowling Green last Wednesday when it started raining. I was doing about 60 mph and the wiper blades installed by the previous owner stuck under the hood edge and did not work.

The rain did not get blown or swept or beaded off the windshield. It just got really hard to see. I was lucky to get the car stopped without hitting anything. I had to run the rest of the way to BG with the hood "released" so the wipers would work.

BTW the car did not melt or self-destruct. In fact, it ran pretty well in the rain.

Do you have original blades (metal part)? My 84 Z51, 91 ZR1 and current 94 wipers never hit the hood edge. My issues were binding despite many attempts to sync right and left.
Recently I went to Valeo style and resolved binding.
