Back up light
My back-up light won't come on w/ car in reverse. I checkd fuse #28 and seems fine. Then I checked both bulbs and also seem to be ok.
Is there a switch that senses shift lever position? |
Re: Back up light
Yep, there is a switch and it is located on the transmission. Seems that GM wanted to save a little $ and went cheap here on the switch. Seems to be a common problem on the manual tranny. You can replace it in place but it is not easy. Seems there are some threads around that describe the process. I am going to wait until I need a clutch replacement and will fix it the.

Re: Back up light
Bill B used to sell you a switch, and ship you a wrench to use that made it much easier. May want to give him a call.

Got it fixed!
Strangest thing - I removed fuse #28 (back up light), visually looked fine but, just in case, switched it over with fuse for the horn, also 15 amp. Then the back up lights lit up. So, I figure horn would be out. Wrong! Horn works too. I guess electricity works in mysterious ways too... |
Re: Back up light
Consider yourself lucky...the switch on the side of the tranny can be a pig. I made my own wrench, posted pictures of it a while back. Figured since i'm foolish enough to own more than one Zee the tool may come in handy down the road.
