Porting is done...FINALLY!

Pete's balls are free to ream out the next virgin set of plenum/IHs! Those balls doooo get around, huh?:sign10:

I finished touching up the port matching and initial torquing (will re-torque the IHs this morning). Were it not for the fact the 5/8" freeze plugs I bought (to cap off the secondary bearing ports) turned out to be .040 over, I'd give a fire-up a shot today. But, instead, I guess I'll be relegated to doing some cleaning and maybe some painting (the plenum). I've gotta slap on my new headers and 3" exhaust system, and she'll be ready to terrorize some blacktop...Another addition to the FBI!! Can't wait!!:dancing

U bet! 190 rwhp would be a happy point/interim goal, and anything above that would be gravy! 400 would be:dancing:dancing:dancing!!

I'm hoping my loooong taper into the heads was worth 5 hp. I couldn't see putting out the $475 for a one-time reamer to do just that, so I went the hand route. But, if it works out (the hp), I have the specs if someone wants to have one built - sure make that taper into the heads a LOT easier, there's no doubt in my mind!

I'm considering having Marc do the TB porting as well - as part of the "whole 500 hp package" (heads next winter's project), but doing it now to spread the $$$ over a bit more time. 400+ rwhp would be shweeeeet at this stage!!;)

Before Aaron at SGC tore mine down I had him Dyno mine. I was putting down 349 hp 348 orq. This with a 375 hp motor and only porting of the plenum, injector housings and air horn. He is now porting the heads, adding headers, resetting the cams plus 3.92 gears and a few other things. I'm hoping to get at or close to 400hp at the wheels. I'll keep you posted.

Paul:

congrats on the completion of your project
i'm sure you will love the seat of the pants difference.

Before taking "Oprah" to Marc, with watson headers, marc's chip
my car laid down 349 rwhp. After adding the corsa exhaust and high flow cats i feel she added a nother 8 hp or so.

After my Haibeck, 500 hp package where he ported the top end ( we left the cats on)
and my fidanza. I'm laying down 424 rwhp.

A Couple of things to get used to, this deafening roar at wot
and....the tires breaking losey goosey.

hope you make it to BG.

Funny you mentioned that, nobody really talks about TB's when it comes to porting. I just finished porting one a couple days ago.

Results are iffy at best on a mildly modded 350, gains (if any) will fall within a dynos pull to pull hp variation.
