Engine Power Key/Switch 1991
I have done some searching and can not find what I am looking for or the answer is there a I missed it:dontknow:. Anyway I have a need to replace the radio bezel. I need to modify it to allow for a stereo installation and do not want to use the one in the car. So I am considering purchasing a reproduction bezel to modify it but this leaves the power key out. Here are my options:
1. Replace the prom. 2. Replace the key switch with a momentary contact switch? 3. Relocate the key switch to another accessible location. Any suggestions as to where? It is fairly large. Questions? 1. Replacing the prom would I still need the switch connected? This seems to be kinda of a stupid question but you never know. 2. Using a momentary switch what rating should it be? At this time I have been unable to find another radio bezel for the ZR1 which could be used to be modified. |
Re: Engine Power Key/Switch 1991
Just buy a stock Bezel for your car and modify it. The fits the same minus the key and module. Jeffvette did this and also added his Valentine radar detector hidden display module to the lower left of the bezel and he moved his key over to the middle right of the bezel. ask him for a picture it will give you a pretty good idea of what to do. It was a very clean install.

Yes I know no module (91-95 only) but it can still be moved over I beleive.

The mounts are molded into the bezel. A base bezel has no provision for mounting. |
Re: Engine Power Key/Switch 1991
Unless its epoxied to the new postion. I know I know:razz: But it can be done lol. Which is why I suggested a stock bezel who cares if its high temp RTVed or Epoxided to the back of a stocker unit???
But Jeffvette is right behind the stock ZR-1 91-95 bezel is indeed mounts to secure into. |
