One Lap of America/90 ZR-1
I have heard how the ZR-1 is not a track car, but in the late 90s and 2000 two gentlemen(Reed Kryder, J0hn Bender) Piloted a ZR-1 to a fifth place overall finish at the one lap of america behind a Few Vipers and even a Mallet BB vette. Anyone have any info on this car.....mods, etc.

Re: One Lap of America/90 ZR-1
Steve Ahlgrim (I think that is the spelling and name) has a 1991 or 1992 Steel Blue ZR-1..
It was the one at Marc's over the summer .. the one with 200K miles he has taken it on One lap.. in fact his plates are ONE LAP X or X ONE LAP |
Re: One Lap of America/90 ZR-1
i think it would be way cool if jeff and another road racer entered this event with a stroker car and see what the zr1 could do with some extra power .might blow some minds

Re: One Lap of America/90 ZR-1
Steve Ahlgrim and his brother had participated in several One Lap's. I believe they placed very well more than once if memory serves. I recall the name of his venture as "Fugawi" (as in "Where the ........" )Racing Team. ;)

Other ZR-1s from ran the One Lap in the 90s: Sam Haldiman, Duane Grahovic, George Hall, Phil DeJohn, Glenn Grider, maybe a few more I forgot.
Steve Ahlgrim ran it at least 4 times with his ZR-1; he and brother Scott also ran with a Mustang and a Honda S2000 over the years. |
