sh*t. hate to share this sometimes one thinks they are so smart .i still think i have a pretty good deal on it, its the wifes car . started on the passenger side and the last 3 plug holes have oil in them so ok i need new seals. where? then get over to the drivers side and the send plug back comes out alittle hard .could i run a tap through it coated with grease to try to make sure .what tap would i buy . dont think i have the right one . anyone gone tthru it .wont talk about the bolt in the top broke (no Head)didnt know the gsc s were so old sorry for the rant .boy i guess i wasnt very good at really cking it out . seems to have decent power . 372 whp 353tq. stk exhaust manifolds and the wife likes it .

You have a leak in the cam cover gasket, BMWs have this issue w/valve cover and holes to plugs fill with oil, not the end of the world. Not sure if you are saying you broke a plug or what on the second part?

oh no i didnt break a plug ,i was changing .and usually they spin out easy . this one needed maybe 3-5 of torque to pull out I dont think its too bad yet . but before i try something , i thought ,maybe its happened to someone here and what did they do.? will see if anyone answers ????? i have never had this happen to me before. so pull one cam cover. for seals and now what? help

Don't know if this will help Brad. I had one plug hole that kind of did the same thing. I took my 1/2" copper tubing/fitting cleaning brush and cleaned the threads....but my fitting brush set is brass bristles.

Now you could go to the hdw store and buy those small parts cleaning brushes...they look a bit like over sized tooth brushes...they come in s/s bristle & fiber bristle & brass bristle....the ones that have the plastic hdls as you will need to trim it down so the brush end fits into the plug hole just right so you can clean the threads without the chance of the hdl part hitting any of the threads. Or if you are a marksman, your barrel cleaning brushes may work also. Ofcourse this whole thing depends upon the plug hole threads just being gunked up & not actually burred up. My one plug hole had some crud on the threads...don't know what it was...but my fitting brush fixed the issue, so obviously there were no burrs on the threads....just some anti-seize compound came back on the bristles which was my fault...now I use motor oil on the threads.

I don't know the thread size & pitch of our spark plugs, otherwise I would just say go get a chase....sorry!:redface:

Dittos on the bore brush...
 

Well, I don't know that you have to be a "marksman" to hit a sparkplug hole with a bore brush...:D, but it sounds like an excellent way to brush the threads. However, I believe I would avoid the bronze bristle brushes and get the nylon bristle brushes instead. If it is just carbon, there are a bunch of bore cleaners available at your local gun store that will cut cabon and not hurt steel or aluminum. GM used to sell an engine "Top Cleaner" designed to deal w/ carbon (- that many competition rifle shooters use for the same purpose). I'm thinking a 45 cal pistol brush would be about right.

So are you guys NOT using anti-seize compound on the threads? I just did my plugs & used Permatex a-s compound...it seemed to work fine :icon_scra

thank guys foe the wonderfull ideas . there is an 86 yr old machineest thats saved me so many times at the course,it not funny well he had a hallow.03 undersized 9what he calls a ribbon tap .he put bearing grease on the outside of it ran it through it and poof problem solved . all the grease ended up in ths center of the tap.i asked him about it and said it was something he made up when his son had a problem like i had .gotta love small towns , friendly folks that just love to help. now have to figure out how to get that broke off bolt out of the top .why do people have to do this stuff (break bolts) i will never know . thanks again for all the ideas . you guys sre THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ps sorry for the spelling . very tired wife in hospital and not doing tooo well.i ama walking zoombie

Let me get this straight, one of the rear bolts for the top hold down got broke off?...or the head got broke off?...or they stripped out the head?

This is just me. I was having issues with my plugs getting loose over short periods of time. I checked my notes....I wrote down stuff that I observed the first time I worked on my car when I first got it....and noticed that I had noted that the OEM plugs had oil on the threads....so I went back to that two yrs ago.

Now, I pull my plugs every winter to look see what's up & alot of times I just change'em. I use the GM equivalent for the FR2LS, xx-402's??, so I figured I'd try the oil method. Oh yea, I do use a T/Q wrench with a n/M scale.:o

thanx for your thoughts on y wife . its still very serious at this point . sleep is so hard .i spend every second with her after work . so sleep a few cat naps . on the top its the pass side front bolt there is no head on the bolt. i can see what left of the bolt (threaded stem) its holding the top on . so do i have to pull the visors and all that stuff/ how do i get at things .i still cant find my helms .the result of moving into the new house .?any ideas ?
