Commentary Post fluid changes>>>

When I last left you I was on my way to my son's shop for a engine/tranny/diff/power steering/cooling fluid change out. First it is always nice to have the right equipment and tools...and in this case expertise (yes he is my son but he is good at his trade  ) First the diff... pump out old stuff and fill with Mobile 1 75-90 and rotate wheels to get diff gears etc washing thru new stuff...pump out and repeat...pump out then do final Mobil 1 75-90 with GM posi friction fluid. Tranny...drain and fill with the BMW spec Castrol TWS. Engine oil..drain and fill with Amsoil AMO..oh here is a little tip he does for the top loading oil filters so as to minimize spill etc..punch a hole in the filter top thus allowing remaining oil to drain

Of course while working under car always time for the cell call from his lady

Amsoil syn in the engine with the Bosch filter..

Now to BG power cleaning of the power steering fluid...neat system

Total service of the cooling system including BG ph balancing fluid (interesting test to determine ph etc)

While under the Z took a few pics..
Found the ZF tranny plate

Just a few last views...

Now to results.. a very NOTICEABLE reduction in tranny noise and rear noise...much nicer sound and while we were under the Z found out source of a minor but irratating heat shield rattle..left side CAT shield and we corrected...
Now a few last items and I be ready...
This is fun

Love the Red on Red...
When I purchased it had 1340 and now has about 1500 (I have only owned for couple weeks and most of the time has been spent detailing and upgrading)..just waiting for fair weather and it WILL be driven

God that car is so clean, that's awesome!=D>

It must be nice to have a tech you can trust to do it right! I'm envious:mrgreen:

Just a Q, if you wouldn't mind? How did you change the p/s fluid? I've been using ther turkey baster method at the resevior....not exactly a very good way to change the fluid....not very effective & doesn't make me feel like I'm doing anything useful.
Thanks

When all else fails use the turkey baster....lordy how many of us use that special garage tool..it works in many cases and is part of my tool kit

But your right in the case of the PS unit... there is a special vacuum pump/sender pump unit made by BG (called a Power Steering Service Center)

http://www.bgprod.com/products/steering.html

First it sucks out the PS resevoir then you add the can of BG Quick Cleaner and turn on engine and work steering wheel...left right left right etc etc ect....cleans out the entire system including the PS rack... then the machine sucks out fluid and replaces with BG Power Clean fluid...It is a really nifty set up.

Are you saying it just sucks it out of the reservour? Or it hooks into one of the lines somewhere? The way you describe it, it sounds like cleaner could be left behind.
