Scanners
What scanner does everyone like??? Need one for OBD II and early cars (pre 96) for the ZR-1, are there good / better / best or just an all around preference.

Re: Scanners
If you can swing them, Gm Tech 1 & Gm Tech 2.
But others work as well. Just not real familiar with them, |

Are you coming to SGC if so get with me if you need a ride from Fl. Gene |
Re: Scanners
Tech 2 is roughly 2k for the bare bones version. A tech 1 is 300-500 for a used one.
Let me see what I can do about coming down. |
Re: Scanners

Thanks; |
Re: Scanners

Re: Scanners
I have one of those Auto-Xray scanners - does OBDI and OBDII scans on the Vettes as well as the brand new cars. Doesn't do much other than return sensor readings and DTC's, but it works fine for me since I paid less than $200 new.

Re: Scanners
I've been looking for a unit that I can use on "The Beast" mainly. If it works on "The SilverBuckboard" (my '01 F-150) that would be a plus and on my bride's "Scooby-doo" ('04 Subaru Outback) that would be a bonus. I know nothing about these units but understand they can be a great thing to have in the toolbox.

Re: Scanners
Personally, I think the scanners are of limited value with the OBDI software, unless you have a very high-end unit. There just aren't enough sensors and stored values to make it worthwhile, and most of your problems aren't tracked by the software. The OBDII makes it much more worthwhile.
